Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology Surat was established as Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional Engineering College in 1961 for imparting technical education in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Under Graduate programmes in Electronics Engineering was introduced in 1983-84 while that of Computer Engineering and Production Engineering started in 1988-89.  In the year 1995-96, UG programme in Chemical Engineering was introduced. 

As per the UGC Act 1956 and advice of the Central Government, Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering & Technology (SVREC) was changed to Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT). It received the status of “Deemed University” with effect from 4th December 2002. 

The Institute was granted the status of ‘Institute of National Importance’ from August 15, 2007. It is one of 30 National Institutes of Technology in India recognized by the Government of India as an Institute of National Importance. Currently, the Institute is offering 6 UG Programmes, 18 PG Programmes and 3 M.Sc. Five Years Integrated Programme including doctoral programme in all above branches.

Undergraduate Programmes SVNIT Surat

Admissions to BTech programmes in SVNIT Surat  are granted on the basis of performance of  JEE (Main).

Postgraduate Programmes SVNIT Surat

Admission notification will be given on All-India basis. For admission to PG Programmes, the candidates must have at least 60 percent marks or an equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average in the B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent examination (55 percent for SC/ST category) in the respective branch of Engineering. For the PG Programme in Town and Regional Planning offered by the Civil Engineering Department, the candidates with B.E./B.Tech. degree in Civil Engineering or Bachelors degree in Architecture securing at least 60 percent of the marks are eligible for admission. For the PG Programmes in Mechanical Engineering, the candidates with B.E./B.Tech. in Production/Production & Industrial Engineering are also eligible for admission.
