Indian Institute of Teacher Education
With the objective of training world class teachers for the future generation, the Indian Institute of Teacher Education (IITE) was established in 2010. Brainchild of the then CM of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi, the institute wishes to fill in the gap that the state and the country at large is facing in terms of quality teachers. "If you send a businessman to a foreign land, he controls dollars, but if you send a teacher s/he would control the whole generation". Modi used to say.
To lend a material shape to the best educational philosophies from across the world, a team of experts led by the legendary Indian academician and philosopher Shri Kireetbhai Joshi and other scholars of national and international stature came together to design the curriculum of IITE.
Vision
To nurture teachers of tomorrow with the transformative knowledge of Indian tradition and usher in a new era of teacher education, focusing upon the integral development of teachers.

To provide integrated courses in teacher education, marked and defined by value-education, global outlook, and interdisciplinary.
Academic Programs of IITE
B.SC. B.Ed.
B.Sc. B.Ed. is a 4 year integrated course offered in two different combinations, PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) and PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Maths).
B.A. B.Ed.
This course is structured to cater to the needs of Senior Primary and Secondary Schools where the subjects are general in nature and students have to learn basic and fundamental concepts in the fields of Maths, Science, Languages and Social Sciences. So the core element of the course is based on primary concerns of teacher education and subjects within.
M.A.(Education) and M. A / M.Sc. M.ED (Integrated)
The ultimate goal of teacher development should be to ensure that optimal learning takes place in the classrooms. With this noble objective we have launched M.Sc. M.Ed. Integrated programme and MA Education were introduced in the University.
M. Sc.
Master of Science in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Botany.
Ph.D. (Education)
For applying to PhD program, one must complete Master Degree in Education (M.Ed.) or B.Ed and M.A. in Education or its equivalent from any recognised University.

Central Library of IITE
The Central Library of IITE which has a collection of books on Education, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Humanities & Social Sciences has been developed to support the main objective of the institute to become a world class institution to nurture teacher of tomorrow. The collection includes reference books, Journals, periodicals, encyclopedias, Dictionaries, text books, CDs etc.
